About IPR Cell

Intellectual property protection is critical to fostering innovation. Without protection of ideas, businesses and individuals would not reap the full benefits of their inventions and would focus less on research and development. All the multi-national companies and organizations are therefore keen to protect their intellectual property by developing a system supported by the legal scaffolding and knowing their rights.

The IPR Cell of SKIT is a step towards educating and spreading awareness about intellectual property rights. The awareness it urgently needed to maintain an environment where everyone shall respect the IPR laws and understand well about protecting their intellectual properties via patients, copyrights and trademarks.

The IPR Cell is an initiative of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the Institute. The IPR cell was inaugurated on August 19, 2021 by Dr. Manu Sikarwar, IPR Project Director, DST Rajasthan and Dr. D. K. Palwalia, Dean IPR Cell, RTU(Kota). IPR cell works in collaboration with Institute’s innovation cell and incubation cell to serves as a critical entity responsible for various functions related to safeguarding, promoting, and managing intellectual property.

Objectives of IPR Cell

The Intellectual Property Rights Cell at the educational institution is committed to several core objectives:

1. Education and Awareness: The cell endeavors to foster understanding and awareness of intellectual property through the organization of workshops, seminars, and the dissemination of educational materials among students, faculty, and staff.
2. IP Policy Development: It is dedicated to formulating a robust intellectual property policy framework, characterized by stakeholder engagement, to delineate ownership, rights, and the requisite procedures pertaining to disclosure and protection.
3. Invention Disclosure Process: The cell provides comprehensive guidance, support, and ensures confidentiality throughout the disclosure phase, thereby fostering an environment conducive to inventor participation and collaboration.
4. Patent Filing and Protection: Through collaboration with subject matter experts, the cell evaluates patentability and implements an expedited process to ensure the timely filing of patent applications for the protection of innovative endeavors.
5. Licensing and Commercialization: The cell identifies potential licensing avenues, facilitates negotiations, and advocates for equitable agreements between inventors and prospective licensees.
